- Exchange Student Anastasia from Germay participating in local competitions.

May 15th , 2008.- Viña del Mar. Our exchange student from Germany, Anastasia Dietrich is participating in different local competions with excellent scores. This Sunday she got the third place for the all city high school running track competition organized by the cable company VTR. It was about 5000 meters running track. Anastasia will be participating in new competitions

- April 6th, 2008: Welcome BBQ - Picnic for our exchange students 2008-09 and Chilean returnees from 2007-08 program.

Concón. At the Club Deportivo Enap Refinerías we had our Welcome BBQ for the 5 local foreign students and for the Chilean returnees that stayed during 2007-08 in Germany, Japan, New Zealand and Switzerland. Also host families and local volunteers were present enjoying a nice sunny day.

All the exchange students did their introduction in Spanish and everything got better when they presented their typical desserts and candies.

We thanks to Alice from France, Anastasia from Germany, Nita from Finland, Sigrid from Austria and Sigrid from for their kindness.

-- March 1st, 2008: First local orientation for exchange students and their host siblings

A very good time for checking out the first week in Chile was for the 5 local exchange students and their host siblings.

They work in their expectations and overviewing the experience. Also the students got some extra supporting material for helping out with their Chilean spanish learning. Part of the AFS local contact persons (liason persons) for the students were present too. The exchange students will have national orientation next March 27-30th in Santiago.

- February 17th, 2008: Exchange students arrival. Welcome Alice, Anastasia, Nita, Sigrid and Tessa !

The wait is over. Our new foreign students arrived to Chile on Sunday February 17th after they spent their first 2 days with the rest of the group (near 70 students) at the orientation camp in San Francisco of Mostazal 2 hours south of Santiago. Our local volunteer Carolina Durán traveled with them to Viña del Mar.

At the bus terminal, they were expected by the 5 nervous host families. Emotion and happiness had this special encounter giving tranquility to the also nervous students in this new land that welcomed them.
